Warning Description: Lake Effect Snow Warning

Warning Date: 4:36 am CST on November 26, 2014

WarningSum:...Lake Effect Snow Warning Remains In Effect From 2 Pm This
Afternoon To Noon Cst Thursday...

Warning Message:* location...Ashland and Iron counties.
* Timing...lake effect snow will develop early this afternoon 
  and increase in intensity late this afternoon. Snowfall 
  intensity will peak late this afternoon and this evening...
  then gradually diminish into Thursday morning. 
* Snow accumulations...the northern halves of Iron and Ashland 
  County can expect widespread totals of 6 to 9 inches. The 
  state highways 13...17...and 169 in the area near and between 
  Marengo...Mellen...Upson...and Gurney will see the highest 
  totals...as much as 12 inches. 
* Winds/visibility...gusty north winds and heavy snowfall rates 
  will reduce visibilities to a quarter mile or less at times. 
* Impacts...travel conditions will deteriorate late this 
  afternoon and this evening. Weather conditions will gradually 
  improve Thursday morning. 
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A lake effect snow warning means significant amounts of lake-
effect snow are forecast that will make travel very hazardous or
impossible. Lake-effect snow showers typically align themselves
in bands and will likely be intense enough to drop 1 to several
inches of snow per hour for several hours. Visibilities vary
greatly and can drop to zero within minutes.  Travel is strongly
discouraged. Commerce could be severely impacted. If you must
travel...keep an extra flashlight...food...and water in your
vehicle in case of an emergency.
